Rickie Remains Hot at Honda

There is no hotter player on the planet at the moment than Rickie Fowler. Four top five finishes in his last five worldwide starts, including a victory. Coming off a tough second place finish to Hideki Matsuyama at the WM Phoenix Open, Fowler picked up right where he left off at the Honda Classic. With a pair of 66s the first two rounds, Fowler leads the tournament by one shot over Jimmy Walker.

Fowler has been flawless through the first two rounds, remaining bogey free through 36 holes. Fowler became the first player to play two rounds bogey free since the event moved to PGA National in 2007.

“That’s a big accomplishment around this golf course – not just one day, but back-to-back,” Fowler said. “So pleased with how I’ve managed my game.”

Only 19 players are under par heading into the weekend. However, hot on Fowler’s heels are some of the game’s best including Jimmy Walker, Sergio Garcia and Adam Scott.

Scott also put together a bogey free round on Friday and has yet to shoot a round over par in ten rounds this season.

“It’s starting to get really solid, and I’ve got to just keep doing that and let the confidence build,” Scott said.
As for one big name who missed the cut, Rory Mcilroy missed the cut by a shot after a 72 on Friday and left without speaking to the media.
Sergio Garcia hung right with Rickie until three putting his 10th hole of the day, while Rickie made birdie to maintain his lead.

“Tomorrow is going to be an important day,” Garcia said. “Rickie is playing really, really well, so I’m going to have to play extremely well to keep up with him. We’ll see. Hopefully we have a good chance on Sunday. See what we can do.”
