It was a wild weekend in sports. Week 7 in the NFL is in the books, and four teams, the Patriots, Bengals, Broncos, and Panthers, remained undefeated, while the Packers fell to Peyton Manning and the aforementioned Denver Broncos.
The Royals closed out the Mets in a wild game 5 to win their first World Series title in 30 years. Boston Red Sox, take notes, that’s the team you tried to build in 2015, but you failed miserably. Want to improve? Start with an ace, how about David Price or Johnny Cueto. A couple bullpen flamethrowers wouldn’t hurt either.
While The Ohio State University did not play this weekend, they still made headlines. Quarterback JT Barrett was arrested and charged with DUI. Coach Urban Meyer took swift action by not only suspending Barrett for next week’s game against Minnesota, but also taking away his scholarship for this term. Pretty harsh for a crime that didn’t even see Barrett’s captaincy revoked.
Elsewhere in college football, the Clemson Tigers remained undefeated with a 56-41 win over NC State. There won’t be any “Clemsoning” this year, not if Dabo has anything to say about it.
After contending in seemingly every event last season, 22 year old Justin Thomas netted his first PGA Tour victory at the CIMB Classic in Malaysia, defeating Adam Scott by one shot. Another successful member of the high school class of 2011, look for big things from Thomas in 2016.
