7 dominating stats proving Novak Djokovic is the greatest tennis player in the world

Sad but true. I still believe in you Roger. But step it up.

For The Win

1. He’s 35-2 this year with five tournament titles.

Granted, it’s not the 41-0 start Djokovic had in his epic 2011 season — a streak that included seven wins against Nos. 1 and 2 Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer and lasted until Federer defeated him in a classic French Open semifinal — but 35-2 is barely anything to sneeze at. It includes a 14-1 record over top-10 players and a 6-1 mark against the top five, the latter of which were matches against a fellow Big Four member, with the exception of a January win over Stan Wawrinka. The two losses were hardly anything to besmirch his season. Djokovic dropped one to the big-serving Ivo Karlovic in the first tournament of 2015, then was defeated by Federer in the finals of a 500 event in Dubai.

2. Djokovic has won all five “big” tournaments he’s entered this year.
